Profile
Flexicon A/S was founded in 1986 with the
business idea to manufacture and supply liquid filling and capping
equipment for filling bulk products into end-user containers such
as vials, bottles, test tubes, micro diagnostic tubes, Petri dishes
and others.
Flexicon products have been developed for small
to medium sized production scenarios and predominantly for the
pharmaceutical and bio-tech market sectors.
Flexicon today offers a range of products from tabletop
filling machines, through semi-automatic systems to fully automated
filling and capping machines. This is done with the focus on PRECISION
– EFFICIENCY – FLEXIBILITY.
Precision
Today’s industry demands documented precision,
safety and risk minimizing. Flexicon accomplishes these demands
through our unique peristaltic filling systems.
The peristaltic system is ideal for filling sterile
liquids with frequent product changes, as a change is just a matter
of replacing the sterilized silicone tubing.
Typically, a peristaltic pump has a rotor with two
rollers, which squeeze the tube up against a circular tube track.
The flow from this type of pump head suffers from a very strong
pulse whenever a roller leaves the tube track.
Flexicon’s filling units utilise a rotor design
with two individual rotor channels, each with six rollers. The
rotor is designed so that one channel produces maximum flow rate
as the other reduces to its minimum. By combining the output from
both channels before the filling nozzle, the effect of pulsing
is virtually eliminated. This together with the very precise microprocessor
controlled position circuit gives the outstanding +/-0.5% accuracy
claimed for Flexicon peristaltic fillers.
Efficiency
Efficiency means for Flexicon both that our customers
can produce small and medium sized batches with high security
and provability, and also that Flexicon can manufacture our products
with high reliability, a long-life cycle and on a cost efficient
basis.
By the philosophy built into Flexicon equipment
we present an attractive total solution for these products, from
the laboratory, through clinical trials and up to full production.
This has been proved by a long list of references, which includes
both large pharmaceutical companies and small ones within the
bio-tech industry.
Flexibility
Flexibility means for Flexicon both that our customers
can produce with high flexibility and “just in time”
with high security and provability, and also that Flexicon can
customize our products and assemble the different equipment types
just in time.
For the industry, it is difficult and expensive
to dedicate a complete production line to one “less significant”
product. For this reason it is important that the equipment can
be changed over easily and safely from one product to another
and from one container to another. This flexibility is one of
Flexicon’s design criteria, and especially the peristaltic
filling principle is the customer’s guarantee for a safe
and quick product change.
